Pocono Raceway, a leader in the sports industry for their ongoing Pocono Green initiatives, has joined in a partnership with ZLOOP Computer and Electronics Recycling Centers to provide a way to get rid of unwanted and unused electronics safely and securely… and at no cost! The Raceway will conduct an e-Waste recycling and data destruction event on Saturday, April 20 from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Communities, companies, school districts and individuals are encouraged to drop off their unwanted electronics, no matter how large or small.

His recycling company, Zloop, whose corporate office is located on Highland Avenue, is purchasing the first of 14 recycling systems from another local company, Recycling Equipment, Inc. It is equipment that changed his company’s entire business model, LaBarge said.

Bob LaBarge of Hickory-based ZLOOP says the company entered short-track racing to reach the public. Next year, ZLOOP will sponsor the 10-race ZLOOP Challenge at Hickory Motor Speedway, and that should make the eWaste company more visible. “We’ve worked out a great relationship with (HMS promoter) Kevin Piercy,” said LaBarge, the company’s chief marketing officer. “We think we’ve got to start at the racing roots, and Hickory is a great racing town.

Kevin Piercy, the promoter for Hickory Motor Speedway, is excited about the 10-race Big “10” ZLOOP™ Challenge for 2013. “Absolutely,” he said Tuesday. HMS won’t add any more races next year. In the 100-lap Late Model races, drivers will be competing for both track points and ZLOOP Challenge points and money.
